New Teaser Released for Upcoming Apple TV Psychological Horror Thriller ‘Cape Fear’

Set for a global premiere on Friday, June 5, Apple TV released a teaser for the platform’s upcoming 10-episode limited series Cape Fear. Based on a press release from the platform, the psychological horror thriller starring Academy Award winner Javier Bardem (Eat Pray Love, Dune) and Academy Award nominee Amy Adams (Enchanted, The Master) will release first on June 5 with two episodes and be followed by new episodes every Friday through July 31 on Apple TV.

Also credited as ensemble cast are Joe Anders (1917, Lee), Lily Collias (Good One, Roofman), CCH Pounder (NCIS: New Orleans, Sons of Anarchy), Malia Pyles (Baskets, Pretty Little Liars), and Emmy Award and Golden Globe nominee Patrick Wilson (The Conjuring, Insidious). The series is showrun by Nick Antosca (The Act, Channel Zero), who also executive produces with Academy Award winners Steven Spielberg (Jurassic Park, West Side Story) and Martin Scorsese (Shine a Light, Killers of the Flower Moon), as well as stars Bardem and Adams. Antosca, who is the series’ creator, developed and produced the project through his overall deal with UCP (a division of Universal Studio Group) where he has been based out of since 2017.

The original inspiration for the series dates as far back as 1957 with the source novel The Executioners by author John D. MacDonald, which inspired Gregory Peck’s (Roman Holiday, Spellbound) 1962 feature film Cape Fear with Universal Pictures.

Cape Fear (the series) is inspired by director Scorsese’s 1991 remake and executive produced by Spielberg in collaboration with Scorsese. Via the Apple TV press release, Creator and showrunner Antosca produces alongside Alex Hedlund (The Great Wall, As Above, So Below) for Eat the Cat, while Justin Falvey (The Americans, Into the West) and Darryl Frank (The Haunting of Hill House, Halo) work with Spielberg for Amblin television. Another name under EP is Academy Award nominee Morten Tyldum (Passengers, The Imitation Game), who will direct the pilot.

Detailed by Apple TV, “a storm is coming for happily married attorneys Anna (Adams) and Tom Bowden (Wilson) when Max Cady (Bardem), the notorious killer they are responsible for putting behind bars, is let out of prison – and he wants vengeance.”

As stated prior, Cape Fear will premiere globally on June 5 with the first two episodes, followed by new releases every Friday through July 31, exclusively on Apple TV.
