The Talamasca: The Secret Order bit into its first trailer at San Diego Comic Con Saturday evening at a promotional panel for the series, which will mark the second spinoff in Anne Rice’s Immortal Universe after Interview with the Vampire debuted to rave reviews on AMC in 2022. The show stars Daniel, a reserved teen with telepathic powers who finds himself embroiled in a larger supernatural world of witches, demons, and, if the trailer is any indication, familiar faces from other shows. View the trailer below.
The trailer ended with the sudden appearance of Eric Bogosian’s Daniel Molloy, the journalist who conducts the titular “interview with the vampire” that kicke- off Rice’s universe of horror, romance, and mystery. “Daniel has dealt with the supernatural before,” Bogosian, who appeared at the panel, stated to his fellow actors. ” So the Talamasca has been living on the edges of Daniel’s consciousness, and now he’s found out that they’re pulling him deeper into this, well, their world.”
While the exact role Molloy will play in Daniel’s story is unclear, the panel helped illuminate some of the less familiar faces that populate The Secret Order. Nicholas Denton, who plays the lead Guy Anatoll, referred to him as “a lonely, quite complex character” on the “fringes of society” who comes from “hardship growing up.” Serving as his handler is Olive, Maisie Richardson-Sellers, who teased the character as morally gray. “She’s brilliant, and she wants to make sure that her brilliance does not go to waste.”
Other members of the cast include Celine Buckens, who plays the witch Doris, William Fichter, who plays the vampire Jasper, and Jason Schwartzmann, who (while not present) plays a character that the cast described as a “turncoat vampire” different from anything seen previously in Rice’s world.
The Talamasca: The Secret Order will release on October 26th on AMC.
