The first season of FOX’s Krapopolis premiered its first episode on September 24, with its most recent episode airing this past Sunday. The first episode is available online for free. Via Screenrant, the series, created by Dan Harmon (Strange Planet), had a record-breaking start on FOX. The network is also home to other successful animated shows, including The Simpsons and Family Guy.
Harmon has worked on other shows, such as creating Community and co-creating Rick & Morty. With only the first three episodes of the show available for viewers, it has already become Harmon’s most-watched animated show telecast. The premise of Krapopolis is a mythical take on Ancient Greece, with its debut episode attracting 3.6 million viewers on Live + Same Day viewers and becoming the most-watched animated series that debuted in the past ten years. The first episode available online is titled “All Hail the Goddess of Likability” and was written by Harmon. Since its upload to YouTube 23 hours ago, the video racked up fifteen-hundred views.
According to Screenrant, “Set in a mythologized Ancient Greece, Krapopolis follows a flawed family of humans, gods, and monsters. They are trying to run one of the world’s first cities without killing each other.” The king, Tyrannis, played by Richard Ayoade (The Bad Guys), is a young human that runs the city. He is aided by a group of deities and creatures. In the first episode, Tyrannis is challenged by a group of cannibals while he is overseeing the city. Tyrannis’ parents are introduced with his mother, Deliria, being played by Hannah Waddingham (Ted Lasso). She is fixated with temples being built for her. The Greek goddess, Athena, played by Amber Stevens West (22 Jump Street), appears in the episode ready to fight Deliria. Other well known actors are featured in the series, including Ben Stiller (Zoolander), Joel McHale (Community), Dave Franco (Nerve), David Cross (Alvin and the Chipmunks), Yvette Nicole Brown (Drake & Josh), Susan Sarandon (Thelma & Louise), Jane Lynch (Glee), and more.
