New Series ‘Get Jiro’ Announced By Adult Swim And Warner Bros. Animation

Adult Swim is developing a new television series called Get Jiro, with Warner Bros. Animation producing the show. The new series is based on a graphic novel created by Anthony Bourdain (No Reservations: Around the World on an Empty Stomach, Explore Parts Unknown) and Joel Rose (Kill the Poor, Kill Kill Faster Faster). Bourdain was an American celebrity chef, author and travel documentarian while Rose is an American novelist, as Bourdain has passed away. The artwork for the graphic novel was done by Langdon Foss (Vote Loki, Bucky Barnes: The Winter Soldier Vol. 2) and Alé Garza (Ninja Boy: Faded Dreams, Robin/Batgirl: Fresh Blood). DC/Vertigo comics published the novel.

ComicBook.com explains that during the Annecy International Animation Film Festival this year, representatives from Adult Swim and Warner Bros. presented, where they shared information about the various projects they are currently working on and plan to release in the future. They confirmed that there would be new seasons for some of their popular shows, specifically Smiling Friends and My Adventures with Superman. They announced several new projects at different stages of development, with some being approved to become a full series. Among the new projects announced include Get Jiro, created by Brian Gatewood (Sharper, Comrade Detective) and Alessandro Tanaka (Superstore, The Sitter).

According to ComicBook.com, Adult Swim has not yet announced when the Get Jiro series will be released, including a specific date and a general time frame. Additionally, Adult Swim hasn’t shared much specific information about how they are adapting the graphic novel into the TV series. What we do know is that the Get Jiro series will have 30-minute-long episodes. The series’ setting is a near-future version of Los Angeles, where chefs have immense power and influence. The story centers around a sushi master named Jiro, who becomes involved in a violent conflict among chefs and seeks revenge.
