Fox’s hit animated series The Simpsons’ 36th season will premiere this fall. A few days prior, the cast of the series and its crew sat on the stage of this year’s San Diego Comic-Con to share new information on the newest season and what fans can expect. The creator of the animated series, Matt Groening (Futurama, Disenchantment), and the showrunner, Matt Selman (The Angry Birds Movie, The Simpsons Movie), have shared what’s coming up for The Simpsons. Some news included the announcement of the new Horror special, named Treehouse of Horror XXXV, which includes a Venom parody, originally reported by Variety, in which Homer becomes friends with pair of jeans that speaks, named “Denim.” The creators also announced more about the premiere episode, named “Bart’s Birthday,” which will include new guest stars, such as John Cena (The Suicide Squad, Bumblebee), Danny DeVito (Big City Greens, Little Demon) and Tom Hanks (Cast Away, Forrest Gump), Comicbook.com reports. Furthermore, the original series writer Conan O’Brien (Now You See Me, The Lego Batman Movie) will return exclusively as a guest appearance. Selman stated that “It’s kind of crazy, star-studded premiere” and that it’s “a pretty bold, big idea.”
