According to a Prime Video press release, an upcoming comedy titled Clean Slate will premiere on February 6, 2025. The season will have eight episodes, star Laverne Cox (Orange Is The New Black, Can You Keep a Secret?) and George Wallace (A Rage in Harlem, Just Getting Started), and stream only on Prime Video in 240 countries worldwide. The press release also unveiled first-look images below.
The logline of Clean Slate, via the press release, can be read here: “This heartfelt comedy follows Harry (Wallace), an old-school car wash owner in Alabama who has a lot of soul searching to do when the child he once called “son” returns after 17 years as a proud trans woman named Desiree (Cox). Her homecoming brings together a hilarious cast of friends, coworkers, and love interests as Desiree and Harry try to get it right the second time around. The series explores universal themes of unconditional love, all through Norman Lear’s signature boundary-pushing brand of comedy.”
Other cast members include D.K. Uzoukwu (Fresh Off the Boat, Biff the Human Slayer), Jay Wilkinson (Rent: Filmed Live on Broadway, One Life to Live). Norah Murphy (Birds, Bees, and Threes) and Telma Hopkins (The Clean Up Woman, Running Out of Time).
As well as acting in the television series, Cox and Wallace are executive producers and creators of the comedy show as the press release notes. Dan Ewen (Playing with Fire, How to Cheat) is a creator and executive producer as well. Brent Miller (Good Times, I Got a Monster) and Norman Lear (If You’re Not in the Obit, Eat Breakfast, I Carry You with Me) join the three in the executive production team. Simran Baidwan (Manifest, The Good Doctor) is an executive producer and co-showrunner with Ewen. It is produced by Amazon MGM studios, Laverne Cox Productions, Paul Hilepo (Discloser), and Sony Pictures Television.
