According to ComicBook.com, HBO has released new poster for the upcoming show The Last of Us. This is not unusual for the streaming platform, which has released several different trailers and promotional photos in the past couple of months in preparation for the premiere of this highly-anticipated TV series.
The new poster was posted in a tweet from the official HBO Max account on Twitter. The two lead characters, Joel who is played by Pedro Pascal (The Mandalorian, Game of Thrones), and Ellie, played by Bella Ramsey (Game of Thrones, The Worst Witch), are front and center with an destroyed, apocalyptic city in the background. Under the characters is the phrase “When you’re lost in the darkness, look for the light” – a direct quote from the video game the series is based on.
The video game of the same name was developed by Naughty Dog (known for games such as Uncharted) and published by Sony Computer Entertainment for the PlayStation 3 in June 2013. The game was met with high praise, selling over one million units in the first week of its release, and won various Game of the Year awards. It spawned additional downloadable content, a remastered version, a remake, and a sequel, among a comic book and now a television adaptation.
Fans are awaiting a new trailer to drop for the show, although there is speculation that it will be released in early December during a Comic-Con event in Brazil where HBO will reportedly organize a panel for the show.
The Last of Us will premiere at 3 A.M. EST on January 15th, 2023. There will be a total of nine episodes, but fans will be limited to only one episode per week.
