It was announced during Pokémon Day that Netflix partnered with The Pokémon Company to create a new stop-motion animated series. According to Deadline, the show will be called Pokémon Concierge and will celebrate seventeen years since the release of the first Pokémon game.
Pokémon Concierge will be the first project in which the two networks have collaborated. The new Pokémon show will follow Haru, a concierge at the Pokémon Resort, and her interactions with the Pokémon and their owners who are the hotel guests.
According to Deadline, Dwarf Studios is developing the stop-motion series that was announced during Pokémon Day, a day that celebrates the release of the first Pokémon game.
While Pokémon started as a Nintendo game, the franchise has since expanded to also include both TV shows and movies. Netflix currently has several Pokémon movies and series in its library, this includes Indigo League, Journeys: The Series, and Mewtwo Strikes Back.
The original Pokémon show has been running since 1997 and recently announced its final season. In this show, the audience follows Ash Ketchum, voiced by Veronica Taylor (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Shaman King) and more recently by Sarah Natochenny (Unicorn Boy, Seal Team), as he travels the Pokémon world with Pikachu meeting other people and other Pokémon. After twenty-six years of Pokémon training and participating in multiple championships, Ash and Pikachu are finally retiring. A new show is coming in April 2023 and will introduce two new trainers, Like and Roy, as they travel across the Paldea region.
Pokémon has also recently made an appearance on the big screen. Pokémon: Detective Pikachu was the first Pokémon live-action movie. It came out in 2019 and starred Ryan Reynolds (Deadpool, The Adam Project) as Detective Pikachu and Justice Smith (Jurassic World: Dominion, Sharper) as Tim Goodman. The movie was the first time the world of Pokémon was brought into live-action.
Pokémon Concierge is still in production and no release date has been announced. Don´t forget to watch the teaser below.
