The new FX original series The Bridge will premiere on Wednesday July 10th at 10 PM. The show features exploration of the tensions and crime among the American-Mexican border.
Sonya Cross, played by Diane Krueger, of the El Paso Police Department works with Chihuahua State policeman Marco Ruiz (Demian Bichir) as they attempt to catch the serial killer specializing in border-hopping homicide. The politics of the Mexican law and Marco’s cohorts succumbing to the cartel throw a wrench in the operation through out the show.
The show also portrays the El Paso agent Sonya with Asperger’s, which serves as explanation for the character’s social awkwardness and off-putting actions. The Bridge is anticipated to serve obviously as a crime scene show drama counterpart, but hopefully more of a variant because it focuses equally on the struggles of the characters as well as the struggle between US and Mexican relations.
El Paso is located in the western part of Texas and is an army town, which goes well to support Sonya’s by the book protocol. On the opposing side of the fence in this serial killer crime, Ciudad Juárez is the home base of cartel violence and murder. Although Ruiz is virtually the last “good guy” on the team, it has given him a “do whatever it takes” attitude that result in the characters clashing severely in the beginning.
The Bridge was created by Meredith Stiehm and Elwood Reid.
