Melrose Place is coming back for yet another reboot! According to Variety, the 1992 classic soap opera was so popular that it produced a 2009 reboot. Now, this time around for its second reboot, three original stars—Daphne Zuniga (One Tree Hill), Laura Leighton (Skin), and an original special guest star who swiftly became a lead character in the series, Heather Locklear (The Perfect Man)—will be reprising their roles.
As per Variety and initially reported by Deadline, Lauren Gussis (Dexter) will write the series and executive produce alongside Tiffany Grant (Vinland Saga), Jason Weinberg (Betty), Zuniga and Leighton.
Variety notes that the official logline for the reboot series states, “When one of their dearest friends dies suddenly, the OG residents of Melrose Place gather to honor the deceased. But the pressure cooker of a reunion soon uncovers old traumas, rekindles old romances, reignites old resentments, and reveals new secrets… throwing our characters into chaotic drama that’s reminiscent of the past, but with a much more modern perspective.”
CBS Studios is producing the reboot series based on the show created by Darren Star (Sex and the City). The classic Melrose Place aired for seven seasons on Fox from 1992 until 1999.
