During the New York Comic Con panels for Daredevil and Jessica Jones, new information about both series was revealed.
The Daredevil panel started with teaser footage that showed newcomers to the series Elektra (Elodie Yung) and The Punisher (Jon Bernthal). The new cast members were excited to be working on the second season of the dark superhero show.
“It’s intense, it’s exciting,” Yung said about joining the series, according to The Hollywood Reporter. “I can’t be more happy, really.”
Bernthal was equally excited and ready to give his role as the famous Punisher his all. “I know how important this character is to you guys,” Bernthal said according to The Hollywood Reporter. “I know that. I know how important this show is to you guys. I know how important he is to law enforcement and the military. I look at this as a huge honor, a huge responsibility. … I give you my word, I’m going to give everything I have.”
Daredevil co-showrunner Doug Petrie talked about the direction of the second season. “We love two things, and one of them is Matt Murdock. The other is the world Matt Murdock navigates. With the Punisher and Elektra, we get to take it darker and further … The stuff you want to see, we want to see, and we can’t wait to show it to you.”
For the soon-to-be-released Jessica Jones, the panel included a surprise screening of the full pilot episode of the series. Also revealed was Carrie-Anne Moss’s role on the show. Head of Marvel TV Jeph Loeb announced that she will be playing a gender-flipped version of Jeryn Hogarth. In the comic books, the character is male.
Moss also talked about how exciting it was to see Krysten Ritter play a female action hero. The whole cast seemed to enjoy working together as Ritter discusses how talented co-star David Tennant is.
Jessica Jones will be released on November 20 on Netflix. The second season of Daredevil is expected to be released in 2016.
