In early June we reported the first ever set photos of the return of The X-Files. But now there are more previews of the miniseries’ revival. Even though The X-Files had two spin-off films in 2008 and 2016, this miniseries will be The X-Files’ first return to television since 2002. The 6 episode miniseries will air January 24, 2016.
The revival will bring back original cast members Gillian Anderson, David Duchovny, William B. Davis, and Mitch Pileggi. Anderson and Duchovny will reprise their famous roles as Scully and Mulder, two FBI agents who investigate the strange and paranormal files. Creator and executive producer, Chris Carter, is also returning to the miniseries.
FOX released statement about the return of the series, “Thirteen years after the original series run, the next mind-bending chapter of THE X-FILES will be a thrilling, six-episode event series helmed by creator/executive producer Chris Carter, with stars David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson re-inhabiting their roles as iconic FBI Agents Fox Mulder and Dana Scully”.
FOX has most recently released a new 15 second clip. While the clip of the upcoming series isn’t much, it does preview Mulder and Scully, with the poster “I WANT TO BELIEVE” flashing in the preview as well.
This isn’t the first clip of the upcoming revival. In early July, Variety reported on the first snippet of the series. While there is old footage in the clip, there is footage from the upcoming season premiering in 2016 as well.
But the most recent clip was released by FOX on July 16, 2015. Check it out here:
