Two years since its premiere and a year after the writer’s strike, Apple TV’s Severance is geared to premiere its second season next year. This morning the streamer released the first teaser for the second season scheduled for January 17, 2025. View the short teaser below.
The short teaser finds Adam Scott’s (Madam Web, Parks and Recreation) Mark Scout, the show’s protagonist, back in the labyrinth halls of Lumon Industries. As he races through the white-walled corridors, his mind rewinds soundbites from the previous season. Scenes flash in between, hinting at future developments for his coworkers Britt Lower (High Maintenance, Casual), Zach Cherry (Fallout, You), and John Turturro (Mr. & Mrs. Smith, Barton Fink). Finally, he arrives at his bare office space to see three new faces seated at his workstation. Tramell Tillman’s Milchick (Hunters, Elementary) welcomes Mark back after what seems to be a long hiatus.
The psychological thriller from Dan Erickson (Chambers) follows the relatively mundane life of Mark Scout, a tried and true company man for Lumon. The growing conglomerate offers its staff the perfect work-life balance by inserting a chip in their brain that splits their consciousness between work and home. Mark’s trust in Lumon and their practices is strong until the sudden death of a colleague leads him down a rabbit hole of nefarious conspiracy theories.
In addition to the main cast, Severance stars Patricia Arquette (Medium, Toy Story 4), Christopher Walken (Dune: Part Two, The Outlaws), Michael Chernus (Dead Ringers, Little America), Jen Tullock (Spirited, Perry Mason), and Dichen Lachman (Marvel’s Agents of S.H.E.I.L.D., Jurassic World: Dominion). Season two welcomes Sarah Bock (Brusier, The Connoisseur), Alia Shawkat (Search Party, The Old Man), Merritt Weaver (Nurse Jackie, Unbelievable), Gwendoline Christie (Game of Thrones, The Sandman), Bob Balaban (The French Dispatch, Best in Show), John Noble (The Lord of the Rings: Return of the King, Elementary), Robby Benson (Beauty & the Beast, Ice Castles), Stefano Carannante (Mirabilia), and Ólafur Darri Ólafsson (True Detective, The Secret Life of Walter Mitty).
The 10-episode season is executive produced by Erickson and Ben Stiller (Night at the Museum, Zoolander), according to Deadline. They are joined by Scott, Arquette, Caroline Baron (Lisey’s Story, Bel Canto), Jackie Cohn (In the Dark, Plus One), Sam Donovan (The Widow, Humans), Mark Friedman (Dispatches from Elsewhere, Wayward Pines), John Lesher (End of Watch, Birdman), Richard Schwartz (Mulholland Drive, Woke), Jordan Tappis (The First, Grand Army), Nicholas Weinstock (Thelma, Incognito), and Beau Willimon (House of Cards, Andor). Stiller also directs five episodes this season along with Donovan, Uta Bresiewitz (Fellow Travelers, The Wheel of Time), and Jessica Lee Gagné (Mrs. America, All Day and a Night).
Season one of Severance is available to stream exclusively on Apple TV.
