ABC is in the process of developing a comedy series surrounding an LGBTQ couple, which is currently untitled, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The project hails from writer and comedian Sabrina Jalees (Harley Quinn, Search Party) and will follow first-time parents Bertie and Sam who develop a lasting relationship with Alex, their sperm donor.
Jalees will executive produce the series alongside Sam Saifer (Broad City, Alternatino With Arturo Castro). The project joins other upcoming ABC comedies including Happy for You, an upcoming Wonder Years reboot surrounding a Black family, and yet another black-ish spinoff entitled old-ish to add to their ongoing spinoff series grown-ish and mixed-ish.
ABC has just recently given series orders to Rebel, a series based on the life of activist Erin Brockovich, a comedy series entitled Call Your Mother, and David E. Kelley’s (Big Little Lies) Big Sky. The latter series is slated to premier in November while the others will be released in 2021.
