Fans of The Room can finally get another dose of Tommy Wiseau and Greg Sestero in an upcoming animated sci-fi series called SpaceWorld. The pilot, which has been released on YouTube, contains a logline of “This is what happens when you merge The Room with Star Wars.” It is loosely serialized and features Tommy Wiseau as a character called TX, who is reminiscent of Han Solo, and Greg Sestero as Drogol, TX’s nemesis.
For those who aren’t aware, The Room has amassed a cult-like following due to its title as the worst movie ever. Fans were even more astounded when it was revealed that the film was not intentionally made to be bad. This came to light after Greg Sestero, one of the lead actors who also worked heavily with Tommy Wiseau on the film, as well as roomed with him, wrote a book about his Wiseau experiences entitled The Disaster Artist. This book has recently been made into a film starring James Franco as Wiseau. Wiseau received the popularity of the film with open arms, despite the fact that it was received for reasons other than he had intended.
After this, Wiseau created a few other small gems, such as The Tommy Wi-Show, where Tommy battles through various video games while trapped in a space ship, fighting against an evil alien. It is possible that Wiseau used this premise as that of his newest series, SpaceWorld.
According to the official logline from the press release:
“Wiseau stars as the mysterious bounty hunter known as TX, a man in search of his home planet, which he knows absolutely nothing about. Sestero’s Drogol is TX’s lifelong nemesis and SpaceWorld’s most bloodthirsty killer. Together, they explore and explode SpaceWorld’s vast but dingy universe of limitless possibilities, technologies, and stupidities.”
Wiseau’s newest film, Best F(r)iends, was released in 2017 and featured both Wiseau and Sestero as the leads. Besides Wiseau and Sestero, the other voice actors are Georgia Smith, who plays Worfus, Brock LaBorde playing “Computer Person” (literally the voice of the computer), Akul Dang as Sherbert Brown and Mikey Felton as the character Bleebee. The show, created by Brock LaBorde, is distributed by Octopie. However, no further announcements have been made concerning when fans can expect the next episode.
