Earth Day this year has brought with it a new teaser for the new FX series Alien: Earth, according to Comicbook.com. The eerie teaser ups the excitement for the new series.
Creatively framing the teaser as an Earth Day public service announcement, the clip gives us just a taste of what’s to come.
So far, we know that Alien: Earth will serve as prequel set two years before the events of director Ridley Scott’s (The Martian, Blade Runner) 1979 film Alien, according to Comicbook.com, and will follow a rag-tag group who make an astonishing discovery after a strange vessel crash lands on Earth. This raises several questions regarding the Alien canon, and speculation mounts regarding the show’s stakes.
According to Comicbook.com, the show may focus on the reasons behind the Weyland-Yutani Corporation’s mandate that all distress calls must be answered, a fact that led to the events of the original Alien film. The show may dive into the discovery of the xenomorphs and explain why the Weyland-Yutani Corporation was so eager to retrieve samples, as this was not clearly explained in the film.
The cast of the show currently includes Sydney Chandler (Don’t Worry Darling, Pistol) as Wendy, a woman with child-like qualities, Timothy Olyphant (Justified, The Mandalorian) as a synthetic named Kirsh, and Alex Lawther (The End of the F***ing World, Andor) as a soldier named CJ.
Rouding out the cast, we have Essie Davis (The Babadook, Girl with a Pearl Earring) as Dame Silvia, Samuel Blenkin (Black Mirror, The Sandman) as a CEO Boy Kavalier, Kit Young (Shadow and Bone, The School for Good and Evil) as Tootles, Adarsh Gourav (The White Tiger, My Name Is Khan) as Slightly, and Sandra Yi Sencindiver (Foundation, The Wheel of Time) as a currently unnamed member of the Weyland-Yutani Corporation, according to Comicbook.com.
With no official release date as of yet, Alien: Earth is set to premiere sometime in summer 2025 on FX and Hulu.
