Earlier today, on their YouTube page, Netflix released a new trailer for their upcoming anime, Tomb Raider: The Legend Of Lara Croft According to Deadline, the series is based on the Tomb Raider video game Survivor Trilogy (Tomb Raider, Rise of the Tomb Raider, Shadow of the Tomb Raider) and will center around the video game’s main character, Lara Croft, voiced by Hayley Atwell ( The Great Gatsby, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness).
According to the trailer above, the premiere date for Tomb Raider: The Legend Of Lara Croft will premiere on October 10, 2024.
In the original video game plot, Lara Croft is depicted as an adventurous and highly intelligent archaeologist from Great Britain who wants to uncover the great mysteries of the world. Often, she is on the hunt for ancient artifacts and is ultimately confronted by a sinister evil force that Croft must find a way to stop.
Alongside Atwell, the cast of this series will also include Allen Maldonado (Sneakerheads, House Party) as Zip, Lara’s long-time friend who is very good with computers, and Earl Baylon (Vinland Saga, Starfield) as Jonah Maiava, Lara’s travel companion who has been with her since the beginning of the Tomb Raider Survivor Trilogy.
Two additional trailers can also be found on Netflix’s YouTube channel, one released two months ago, and the other released last October.
Tomb Raider: The Legend of Lara Croft anime series takes place following the events of the Shadow of the Tomb Raider video game, released back in 2018. According to Animation Magazine, the synopsis for the upcoming anime series can be found below.
“Lara Croft has abandoned her friends to embark on increasingly more perilous solo adventures. But she must return home when a dangerous and powerful Chinese artifact is stolen from Croft Manor by a thief with an uncanny personal connection. Her daring pursuit will take her on an adventure around the world and to the depths of forgotten tombs, where she will be forced to confront her true self, and decide just what kind of hero she wants to become.”
