Netflix’s ‘The Witcher’ Teaser Scene Revealed At Tudum

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Henry Cavill (Man of Steel, Enola Holmes), Anya Chalotra (Wanderlust, The ABC Murders), Joey Batey (Knightfall, The White Queen), and Freya Allan (Gunpowder Milkshake, The War Of The Worlds) gathered together on stage at Netflix’s global fan event, Tudum, to promote The Witcher’s Third Season. On stage at the event in Brazil, the cast of the fantasy-drama series revealed a teaser clip for the upcoming season.

In this clip, Geralt (Cavill’s character), Yennefer (Chalotra’s character), and Cirilla (Allan’s character) team up to battle the evil mage Rience, played by Chris Fulton (Outlaw King, The Lazarus Project). They manage to hold Rience back but are ambushed by a group of elves.

The series is based on the series of books by Andrzej Sapkowski. According to Netflix, season 3 follows Geralt protecting Cirilla from those who wish to kidnap her.

“Entrusted with Ciri’s magical training, Yennefer leads them to the protected fortress of Aretuza, where they hope to uncover more about the girl’s untapped powers,” the logline reads. “Instead, they discover they’ve landed in a battlefield of political corruption, dark magic, and treachery. They must fight back, put everything on the line — or risk losing each other forever.”

In October, Cavill made Twitter post announcing that he was leaving The Witcher and that in season four, Liam Hemsworth (The Last Song, The Dressmaker) would take the role of Geralt in season four. “As with the greatest of literary characters, I pass the torch with reverence for the time spent embodying Geralt and enthusiasm to see Liam’s take on this most fascinating and nuanced of men.”

Cavill recently announced that he would be executive producing and starring in a series on Amazon Prime adapting the science fiction miniature war game Warhammer 40,000. The series is also executive produced by Vertigo Entertainment and GAW.

“Henry’s well-known love of Warhammer 40,000 — and his passion as a world-builder and storyteller — will serve us all well in the coming years,” said Andy Smillie, creative director of GAW.

The first volume of episodes for The Witcher season 3 will drop on Netflix on June 29, and the second volume will release on July 27.
