Season two production for Netflix’s The Witcher is underway and sources have revealed that this second season will see the return of Ciri’s parents, according to ComicBook. The actors for Princess Pavetta (Gaia Mondadori) and Duny (Bart Edwards, Unreal) have been sighted on the set of Witcher recently leading fans to speculate that Witcher season two will feature more flashback sequences and fans will learn more about Pavetta and Duny as the season progresses.
The pair of actors were spotted with director Ed Bazalgette (Director, The Last Kingdom), according to ComicBook. Bazalgette is directing both episode five and eight of the second season so the audience can expect that the couple will appear in one of these episodes if not both.
Season two will be packed full of vital characters such as Geralt’s (Henry Cavill, Man of Steel) group of mutated allies, the Witchers Eskel (Basil Eidenbez, Denial), Lambert (Paul Billion, enter known role), and Vesemir (Kim Bodnia, Killing Eve). These Witchers represent the last few members of The School of The Wolf. A Witcher training academy where children were subjected to multiple tests.
The first and foremost was the mutation test known as The Trial of The Grasses. Fans will be able to see the castle where a handful of children prove themselves in deadly tests of wit and skill. Audience will also get to see how Netflix displays genetic manipulation to create the ultimate killers. In both the books and the video games Ciri was excused from The Trial of The Grasses because of her powerful bloodline.
The last time fans saw Geralt and Ciri (Freya Allan, Into the Badlands) Geralt was on track to Kaer Morhen, this is where Ciri will train day in and day out to become an excellent monster slayer in her own right. The skills and knowledge of a Witcher mixed with the raw power and essence of Elder Blood makes Ciri one of the most powerful beings in the universe of The Witcher. Fans will be excited to see how the Netflix series approaches the training progress and witness Ciri’s transformation from an orphaned princess to a Witcher.
As far as Pavetta and Duny’s fate is concerned, viewers will see what happens to the couple before Ciri is adopted by her grandmother Queen Calanthe. Season two will answer several questions for the fans and deliver more characters, settings, and a clear linear narrative that most critics feel was missing from the first season.
