Netflix has released the much anticipated trailer for the sophomore season of The Umbrella Academy, via Variety. The series surrounds this family of child heroes reuniting to continue to protect the fate of the world based off the comic series from author Gerard Way, who is also the lead singer for band My Chemical Romance; and artist Gabriel Bá. The events after the season 1 finale left all characters in differing timelines, with their duty to fit together the connected pieces of their lives to save the world.
The Hargreeves family cast in the freshman season will be returning, including Ellen Page (Juno) as Vanya, Tom Hopper (Black Sails) as Luther, David Castañeda (Standing Up, Falling Down) as Diego, Emmy Raver-Lampman (A Million Little Things) as Allison, Robert Sheehan (Misfits) as Klaus, and Justin H. Min (Faking It) as Ben.
The new season will add Marin Ireland as Sissy, and Ritu Arya as Lila, along with Yusuf Gatewood as Raymond. The series has been a hit since its 2018 premiere to Netflix, with two Prime-time Emmy Nominations in 2019 for Outstanding Special Visual Effects and Production Design for a Narrative Contemporary program.
The Umbrella Academy has Jeff F. King (Hand of God), Mike Richardson (The Mask), Keith Goldberg (The Legend of Tarzan) and show-runner Steve Blackman (Fargo) as executive producers along with Way and Bá co-producing. Season 2 premieres July 31st, watch the season 2 trailer below:
