Netflix’s ‘The Umbrella Academy’ Announces New Character Lila

Netflix’s comic book series The Umbrella Academy is set to introduce a new character Lila to the show’s second season cast, according to Screen Rant. The show adapted from its source material of a comic book series under the same name. The comics were created by the lead singer of My Chemical Romance Gerard Way who is a lifelong comic book fan. The Umbrella Academy was released on the streaming platform in February 2019 and consisted of a ten-episode first season. The comic books and series center on the death of billionaire Reginald Hargreeves and the reunion of his adopted children, who also happen to be superheroes, in order to investigate the demise of their adoptive father. The show’s cast included Ellen Page (Juno), David Castañeda (Switched at Birth), Tom Hopper (Game of Thrones), Emmy Raver-Lampman (Jane the Virgin), Robert Sheehan (Misfits), Aidan Gallagher (Nicky, Ricky, Dicky & Dawn), and Mary J. Blige (Scream). 

Adapted to television by Steve Blackman (Fargo, Legion) and Jeremy Slater (The Exorcist), The Umbrella Academy is currently anticipating the premiere of its second season on July 31. There is yet to be announced extensive details on the second season’s narrative. However, the show has introduced a new character in Lila Pitts on their twitter account. Lila is said to be “a chameleon who can be as brilliant or as clinically instance as the situation requires” as well as “unpredictable, mischievous, sarcastic” according to Screen Rant. This new character is set to be paired with David Castañeda’s character Diego in season two. Lila will be portrayed by Ritu Arya (Humans, Red Notice) and acts as another addition to the season two cast that has previously announced the addition of Marin Ireland (Sneaky Pete, The Irishman, Hell or High Water) as Sissy and Yusuf Gatewood (The Originals) as Raymond. 

The second season of The Umbrella Academy will debut on Netflix on July 31 and will consist of another ten-episode season count. Check out the season two teaser which features its main cast going through a short dance session in quarantine:
