According to Variety, Netflix’s The Sandman has announced some new faces joining the second season’s cast. The series, based on Neil Gaiman’s (Good Omens) DC graphic novel of the same name, is gearing up for its new season with a new story following the journey of Dream, the cosmic being.
The Sandman follows the story of Morpheus, the personification of dreams and one of the seven Endless. Morpheus, also known as Dream, was captured in 1916 by an occult ritual and held captive for 106 years. Eventually, he escapes and sets off to restore order to his domain of dreams.
As per Variety, the new cast members come with new roles that further the story’s lore. Ruairi O’Connor (The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It) will play the role of Orpheus, the son of Dream. Orpheus is a poet, musician and oracle and is the only child of Dream and the muse, Calliope. O’Connor is followed by other new cast members, which include Freddie Fox (The Three Musketeers) as Loki, Clive Russell (Still Wakes the Deep) as Odin, Laurence O’Fuarain (Vikings) as Thor, Ann Skelly (The Nevers) as Nuala, Douglas Booth (The Dirt) as Cluracan and Jack Gleeson (Game of Thrones) as Puck. Additionally, Indya Moore (Pose) will play Wanda, and Steve Coogan (Philomena) will join the cast as the voice of Barnabas, the dog.
