According to Deadline, the season five premiere of Stranger Things broke records as soon as Netflix dropped the first few episodes. On November 26, 2025, the Duffer Brothers had the number one hit that week on television ratings, scoring 59.6 million views. This was the best premiere week since season one, which roughly brought in 56M views just in the first four days. The performance of Stranger Things 5 will undoubtedly be on Netflix’s most popular list, just underneath The Night Agent and Fool Me Once, which are currently tied at the ninth and tenth spots at 98.2M views.
Deadline noted that all four seasons of Stranger Things made it to Netflix’s top ten last week. Matt and Ross Duffer gave a statement: “We are completely overwhelmed by the fan response to their season. It means the world to us, and we know it means just as much to the thousands of cast and crew who poured their blood, sweat, and tears into bringing this story to life. We’d like to give a special shout-out to all the fans who kept the flame alive during the long lead-up to release—thought work of mouth, on social media, in fane art, rewatches, and in the thousands of unforgettable moments we and the cast have shared with you around the world. Your passion didn’t just inspire us; it helped bring a new generation of fans into the world of Stranger Things.”
There will be four more episodes dropping at the end of December. Deadline states that it is safe to say that Stranger Things 5 will likely take up the entire bottom half of the top ten as it stands now. The series Wednesday still holds the number one spot with 252M views in the 91-day premiere window.
Deadline also noted that Netflix does not plan on stopping with the success of the premiere. The streamer has plans to take Stranger Things to 28 cities and 21 countries during a world tour. The tour will start at the Lucca ComicCon on October 31, 2026, in Italy.
