Netflix’s ‘Stranger Things’ Confirms That Fan-Favorite Director Frank Darabont Will Be Involved With The Final Season’s Episodes

The final season of Stranger Things will be heading to TV next year, and fans are ecstatic to see what the horror series has in store. A new featurette for the fifth season was released on Monday, unveiling new behind-the-scenes content. At the 57-second mark of the video, director Frank Darabont (The Walking Dead, The Blob) is seen speaking on set, sparking the rumors that he will be directing few episodes in the final season, Comicbook.com reports. The teaser is available to view below.

According to Comicbook.com, Darabont’s other works include classic blockbuster films like The Shawshank Redemption and The Green Mile. It is still unknown which episode of Stranger Things Darabont will direct in the fifth and final season.

According to Comicbook.com, Netflix has not yet released the official plot synopsis for the final season of Stranger Things. But the Duffer Brothers (Waynard Pines, We All Fall Down) have shared their thoughts on wrapping up this show that has been running for over a decade in a special statement.”

“Seven years ago, we planned out the complete story arc for Stranger Things. At the time, we predicted the story would last four to five seasons,” the Duffers explained via Comicbook.com. “It proved too large to tell in four, but — as you’ll soon see for yourselves — we are now hurtling toward our finale. Season four will be the penultimate season; season five will be the last. There are still many more exciting stories to tell within the world of Stranger Things; new mysteries, new adventures, new unexpected heroes. But first we hope that you stay with us as we finish this tale of a powerful girl named Eleven and her brave friends, of a broke police chief and a ferocious mom, of a small town called Hawkins and an alternate dimension known only as the Upside Down. As always, we are grateful for your patience and support. Over and out, Matt and Ross.”

Stranger Things’ fifth and final season does not have an official release date yet, as it is still being filmed. However, it is expected to be released sometime in 2025.”
