Netflix has continued to update the casting of the popular live adaptation of Eiichiro Oda’s (One Piece: Stampede) One Piece, which will be produced by Tomorrow Studios(Snowpiercer). According to Deadline, Charithra Chandran (Bridgerton) is the latest addition to the live adaptation and will be playing Miss Wednesday. Chandran wasn’t the only person announced this year, as in previous announcements, the other additions consist of Sendhil Ramamurthy (The Flash) as Nefertari Cobra, Katey Sagal (The Big Bang Theory) as Dr. Kureha and Mark Harelik(Jurassic Park III) as Dr. Hiriluk.
According to Deadline, other mentions in the announcement for the second season include Callum Kerr (Call of Babylon) as Smoker, Julia Rehwald (Fear Street Part One: 1994) as Tashigi, Daniel Lasker (Raised by Wolves) as Mr. 9, Camrus Johnson (Batwoman) as Mr. 5, Jazzara Jaslyn (Professional Lioness) as Miss Valentine and David Dastmalchian (Dune) as Mr. 3.
According to an mxdwn post, the second season will see the return of the straw hats, which consists of Iñaki Godoy (The Imperfects) as Luffy, Emily Rudd (Delicious in Dungeon) as Nami, Makenyu (Rurouni Kenshin: The Final) as Zoro, Jacob Romero (Greenleaf) as Usopp and Taz Skylar (Gassed Up) as Sanji exploring the next arc within the manga. Fans will also see the return of famous antagonists such as Buggy, played by Jeff Ward (Brand New Cherry Flavor), and Alvida, played by Ilia Isorelýs Paulino (Family Switch). It has not been announced, but there is a chance that Tony Chopper could make his appearance within the upcoming season.
The production team will surely try to reproduce the essence of the season and captivate the viewers. According to an mxdwn post, the second season’s production is two months in, and the location was switched to South Africa.
