According to The Hollywood Reporter, Netflix renewed Nobody Wants This, a rom-com series, for season two. Along with the news of the renewal, an announcement was made that the show will have Bruce Eric Kaplan (Six Feet Under, People in New Jersey) and Jenni Konner (A Goodbye to Girls, It’s Me, Hilary: The Man Who Drew Eloise) as the new showrunners, replacing Jack Burditt (The Santa Clauses, Last Man Standing).
Erin Foster (Barely Famous, He’s Such a Girl), the show’s creator, stays as a writer and executive producer.
“Creating Nobody Wants This will forever be a career highlight for me. The incredible cast, crew, producers and executives all made this into the show it is today, and to experience viewers’ reactions to this series now that it’s out in the world has been more than anything I could have dreamed,” Foster stated to THR. “I’m so lucky to be able to continue this story, and to do it alongside Jenni Konner and Bruce Eric Kaplan, who I’ve been such a fan of since Girls. Justice for healthy relationships being the most romantic!”
The continuation of the Netflix rom-com series was two weeks after its debut on the streamer. The Hollywood Reporter states Nobody Wants This premieres in second place for the streaming service’s global rankings of English-language television shows. It climbed to the top within the week of September 30 to October 6, it increased to the top. The series had approximately 90 million viewing hours worldwide, which resulted in 26.2 million total views for the season.
The show stars Adam Brody (The O.C., Gilmore Girls) and Kristen Bell (Frozen, The Good Place), along with Emily Arlook (You People, Big Time Adolescence), Jackie Tonh (Old Dads, The Nanny), Justine Lupe (Luckiest Girl Alive, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel), Michael Hitcock (EXmas, The Suite Life on Deck), Paul Ben-Victor (The Invisible Man, Blood and Money), Sherry Cola (Turning Red, Joy Ride), Shiloh Berman (Home Economics, The Republic of Sarah), Stephanie Faracy (Hocus Pocus, The Great Outdoors), Timothy Simons (Yes, God, Yes, Looking for Alaska) and Tovah Feldshuh (A Walk On the Moon, Kissing Jessica Stein).
Bell plays a podcaster who meets Brody’s rabbi character at a party. There is an innate connection between both, but obstacles, mainly in their religion and world views, arise in order to grow their relationship.

I am a true fan of Erin’s show and also feel so lucky to be back in a room with two of my favorites, Bruce Kaplan and Sarah Heyward from Girls.”

The producers of Nobody Wants This is 20th Television affiliated with Steve Levitan (Reeboot, Modern Family) Productions. Joining Konner, Kaplan and Foster with executive producing are Bell, Danielle Stokdyk (Veronica Mars, Party Down), Jeff Morton (Don’t Look Under the Bed, Space Oddity), Levitan, president of Jenni Konner Productions Nora Silver (Single Drunk Females, Deli Boys), Sara Foster (D.E.B.S, Barely Famous) and Oly Obst of 3Arts (The Lovebirds, The Invention of Lying).
