According to Deadline, My Life With The Walter Boys is officially based on the novel written by Ali Novak (The Heartbreakers Chronicles). It’s a coming-of-age story that focuses on a 15-year-old teenager, Jackie Howard, portrayed by Nikki Rodriguez (On My Block, Back to Lyla), who lives in New York but ends up losing her entire family in a tragic car accident. Because of this, her family friends, the Walter family, take her in as temporary guardians, and Jackie moves to rural Colorado to be with them. “The family includes her mother’s best friend, Katherine, who is portrayed by Sarah Rafferty (Suits, Chicago Med), her husband, George, who is portrayed by Marc Blucas (Buffy The Vampire Slayer, Underground) and her ten kids. Two of them are close to her age, the introvert and bookish Alex, portrayed by Ashby Gentry (Are You Afraid of the Dark?), and the mysterious yet troublemaker Cole, portrayed by Noah LaLonde (Criminal Minds: Evolution, Deer Camp ’86), who is only a year older than her.
According to Deadline, as she tries to settle in her new rural town, Jackie gets involved in a love triangle with the two brothers, but she wants to stay focused on keeping her grades excellent and making her dream of getting into Princeton come true.
According to Deadline, the showrunner for My Life With The Walter Boys is Melanie Halsall (Itch, Dead Gorgeous), who also has the role of executive producer alongside Becky Hartman Edwards (Firefly Lane, Pitch) and Ed Glauser (The Kissing Booth, Dog Loves Books). The series is produced by International Production, Sony Pictures Television and iGeneration Studios. Jason Priestley (Call Me Fitz, Beverly Hills, 90210), who previously directed and produced some season one episodes, will return to do the same for the upcoming season.
The first season of My Life With The Walter Boys is available to stream on Netflix. Season two has officially concluded its filming and production in Canada and is scheduled to be released sometime in 2025.
