Released in November 2025, the Netflix limited series, The Beast in Me, was a worldwide phenomenon in the top ten for seven weeks on the streaming service and was nominated for the Emmy’s. According to The Hollywood Reporter, it was originally meant to have only one season, but Netflix ordered a second season for the show.

The show had 97 million hours of watch time from their audience, spending eight weeks on Nielsen’s streaming charts as an original Netflix series.

Claire Danes (Homeland, My So-Called Life) reprises her role as Aggie Wiggs, who is an author dealing with the death of her young son. Her life intwines with her new neighbor, Nile Jarvis played by Emmy winner Matthew Rhys (Widow’s Bay,Perry Mason), who supposedly killed his wife. 97 million hours of watch time.

Writer and executive producer Daniel Pearle (American Crime Story, Accused) and Howard Gordon (Homeland, 24) will return as co-showrunners for the series. Gordon signed a deal with Netflix to have the series developed through Teakwood Lane Productions. Gordon planned if they were ever going to make a second season, they would make the storyline to give the first season justice. For season two, Pearle and Gordon will work with Antonio Campos (Afterschool, Christine), Caroline Baron (Severance, Capote), Amy Lippman (Party of Five, House Hunting), creator Gabe Rotter (The X-Files,The Lone Gunmen), Conan O’Brien (Saturday Night Live, The Simpsons), David Kissinger (Eagleheart, Final Space), Jeff Ross (Conan O’Brien Must Go, The Kids in the Hall), Danes, and Jodie Foster (The Silence of The Lambs, Inside Man).
