Based on the superhero comic book series by Mark Millar, Jupiter’s Legacy will be receiving a television adaptation via Netflix and has officially released a teaser along with a release date, according to The Hollywood Reporter. As the longest issue ever published by Millar, the series details the story of the world’s first superheroes, who received their powers in the 1930s. Now in their elder years, their children must live up to the expectations set by their parents.
The upcoming eight-episode Netflix adaptation will star Josh Duhamel (Las Vegas) as Sheldon Sampson (The Utopian), Leslie Bibb (Iron Man) as Grace Sampson (Lady Liberty), Ben Daniels (The Exorcist) as Walter Sampson (Brain-Wave), Elena Kampouris (My Big Fat Greek Wedding) and Andrew Horton (It Came from the Desert) as Sheldon and Grace’s children Chloe and Brandon, Mike Wade (From Above) as Fitz Small, and Matt Lanter (90210) as George Hutchence. In addition to developing Jupiter’s Legacy, Netflix also acquired Millar’s comic book company Millarworld in 2017 and is currently developing a series for his 2020 book American Jesus and adaptations based on Empress, Huck, and Reborn, starring Sandra Bullock (The Blind Side).
Millarworld is known for its development of book series such as Wanted, Kingsman, Empress, and Reborn. Jupiter’s Legacy will premiere on Netflix on May 7 while the teaser is available to watch below:
