Netflix’s German Science-Fiction Drama ‘Dark’ Season 3 Trailer Released, Premieres June 27

Dark, the German science fiction drama co-created by Jantje Friese (The Silence) and Baran bo Odar (Who Am I), will get a third and final season on Netflix. Streaming begins June 27, according to Hollywood Reporter.

The first season begins in the year 2019 where several children from Winden, Germany have disappeared without a trace. The core families affected by this are the Kahnwalds, Nielsens, Dopplers and Tiedemanns. As more children disappear, several members from the core families attempt to connect disappearances from the years 1953 and 1986 when a time-travel wormhole is discovered in the caves under the town’s nuclear plant.

The show is taken through three main points of view: Jonas Kahnwald, played by Louis Hofmann (Land of Mine), a teenager left reeling from his dad’s suicide, police officer Ulrich Nielsen, played by Oliver Masucci (Look Who’s Back), who is looking to solve his own brother’s 33-year-old mystery disappearance, and police chief Charlotte Doppler, played by Karoline Eichhorn (A Map of the Heart). Supporting characters include Aleksander Tiedemann, played by Peter Benedict (Barbara), Katharina Nielsen, played by Jördis Triebel (Emma’s Bliss) and Hannah Kahnwald, played by Maja Schöne (The Fire).

Season 2 continued the narratives of the families and looked to answer the question of who built the time travel in the first place. In the last season, co-creators Friese and bo Odar said, “We will offer answers to the questions that our viewers have been asking and help untangle the story through time,” via Hollywood Reporter.

Seasons 1-2 are available to stream on Netflix before the final season arrives June 27.
