The last Netflix Top 10 of 2023 dropped, just in time for the New Year! According to Variety, the Dec.25-31 holiday viewing window saw stand-up comedy dominating the English TV charts. The No.1 spot was claimed by Ricky Gervais’s (The Office, Extras) comedy special Armageddon, which premiered on Christmas and has already amassed 8 million views.
Over the last two weeks, Variety reports the drama series My Life with the Walter Boys held the No. 1 spot on the chart. However, it has been replaced but is now in the No. 2 slot. In other news, Dave Chappelle’s (Chappelle’s Show, A Star Is Born) latest controversial comedy special, The Dreamer, in which he shares his thoughts on the trans community, premiered on Dec.31 and has already garnered 2.2 million views, securing the No. 5 spot on the list. As previously reported, this is not Chappelle’s first rodeo with controversy surrounding his comedy sets. Considering that the special made it to the chart after just two days of its release, it will likely climb higher in the charts following the next viewing window.
According to Variety, Trevor Noah’s comedy special entitled Where Was I? made the list for the second week in a row; during its first week and following its release, it landed in the No.3 slot. This week, the special holds the No.8 slot with 1.7 million views for its first week on Netflix.
Variety also reports that The Crown secured the No.3 place and received 3.6 million views just after the premiere of its last few episodes of the season premiered on Dec.14, while the action series Obliterated saw its fifth week on the list and obtained the No.4 spot with 2.6 million views. Others on the list are season one of Young Sheldon which held the No.9 place with 1.5 million views. Meanwhile, the children’s show Bebefinn Playtime by Pinkfong held the No.10 slot on the list, garnering 1.5 million total views during its first week on the chart.
