Is he being framed for murder, or is he really the murderer? According to Deadline, Academy Award Nominee Colman Domingo (The Color Purple, Rustin) is set to star in the new conspiracy thriller The Madness only on Netflix.
According to Deadline, the upcoming political thriller series is set to air on Nov. 28 with eight episodes. The main character in the show is a political consultant turned specialist, Muncie Daniels, played by Domingo, who simply lost his way.
Domingo quotes in the trailer, according to Deadline “I’m telling you; it was a setup. Now, I’m being questioned. I got a bullseye on my back. Do you see what they’re doing to me?” says Domingo in a voiceover as he walks into the frame of a surveillance camera. “I feel like I can’t leave. They are gonna pin all this on you.”
The Madness, a show created by showrunner Stephen Belber (Tape, What Do We Do Next), follows Daniels, who is on a work sabbatical in the Poconos to write the great American novel. Instead, he becomes the sole witness to the murder of a prominent white supremacist and finds himself framed for the crime.
Daniels is thrust into a high-stakes race against time to clear his name and uncover a global conspiracy before it’s too late. As he navigates this treacherous landscape, he reconnects with family, forges unexpected alliances, and battles the pervasive disinformation of a post-truth era.
The series also comes with an all-star cast Marsha Stephanie Blake (Orange Is the New Black, When They See Us), Gabrielle Graham (Hattie, The Expanse), John Ortiz (Silver Linings Playbook, American Gangster), Tamsin Topolski (Penny Dreadful, The Rook) and TJ Mixson ( Creed III, Candy Cane Lane), along with guest stars Deon Cole (Black-Ish, The Bad Guys), Hamish Allan-Headley (The Good Doctor, The Christmas House), Ennis Esmer (Orphan Black, The Rookie), Alison Wright (The Americans, The Good Wife), Bradley Whitford (The West Wing, Get Out) and Stephen McKinley Henderson (Fences, Django Unchained).
Belber will take on the role of executive producer along with VJ Boyd (S.W.A.T, Justified). The directors will be Clement Virgo (GreenLeaf, The Book of Negroes) and Peter Chernin (Hidden Figures, Ford V Ferrari), Jenno Topping (Hidden Figures, The Greatest Showman) and Kaitlin Dahill (Runaways, Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D).”
