According to The Hollywood Reporter, Netflix revealed the trailer for A Man on the Inside, a series based on the Oscar-nominated documentary The Mole Agent. The series will feature a reunion between Ted Danson (Cheers, Body Heat) and Mike Schur (The Office, Rutherford Falls), who worked together on NBC’s The Good Place.
The series was given a straight-to-series order in March 2023 by the streamer. Danson plays Charles, a retired professor who’s in a rut following the death of his wife, having grown distant from his daughter, Emily.

Netflix describes the series as follows: “When Charles spies a classified ad from private investigator Julie, he’s inspired to roll the dice on a new adventure. Charles’ mission: to go undercover inside the Pacific View Retirement Home in San Francisco and solve the mystery of a stolen family heirloom. Everyone, residents and staff alike, is a potential suspect, and it’s up to Charles to solve the case without landing on the radar of Didi, the all-seeing, all-knowing director of Pacific View. But keeping a low profile proves difficult as the affable Charles quickly endears himself to his fellow residents. Being a ‘man on the inside’ sends Charles on an exciting journey that makes him realize there’s a lot more life left to be had — and allows him to reconnect with Emily in the process.”
The cast for the series includes Stephanie Beatriz (Encanto, Brooklyn Nine-Nine) as Didi, Lilah Richcreek Estrada (Chicago Med, The Wonder Years) as Julie, Kerry O’Malley (The Killer, High Potential) as Megan, Jama Williamson (School of Rock, Parks and Recreation) as Beatrice, Marc Anthony Samuel (Say Uncle, General Hospital) as Calvert Junior, Shylo Shaner (The Savages, Twenties) as Pilar and Nina Gosiengfiao (Grey’s Anatomy, This Is Us) as Tabitha.
A Man on the Inside premieres on Netflix on November 21.
