Netflix Reveals Cast Members Of Live Action ‘Scooby-Doo’ Series

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Netflix has announced the actors joining the cast of the upcoming live-action Scooby-Doo series. Maxwell Jenkins (Lost in Space, Reacher), Abby Ryder Fortson  (Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret) and Tanner Hagen (Be Careful What You Say, Just Like You: Food Allergies) have joined the previously cast McKenna Grace (Scream 7, Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire) in the series. Jenkins will play Fred, Fortson will play Velma, and Hagen will play Shaggy. Grace is playing Daphne.

As per The Hollywood Reporter, Netflix gave the series a straight-to-series order just under a year ago.The show comes from Warner Bros. Television and showrunners Josh Appelbaum (Wonder Park, October Road) and Scott Rosenberg (Beautiful Girls, Disturbing Behavior), with Greg Berlanti (Legends of Tomorrow, The Father) among its executive producers.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Netflix describes Scooby-Doo as a modern reimagining of the long-running cartoon. The logline for the series reads as follows: “During their final summer at camp, old friends Shaggy and Daphne get embroiled in a haunting mystery surrounding a lonely lost Great Dane puppy that may have been a witness to a supernatural murder. Together with the pragmatic and scientific townie, Velma, and the strange, but ever so handsome new kid, Freddy, they set out to solve the case that is pulling each of them into a creepy nightmare that threatens to expose all of their secrets.”

As per The Hollywood Reporter, Applebaum and Rosenberg  will executive produce on the series via their Midnight Radio banner. Berlanti, Sarah Schechter (Red, White, & Royal Blue, Pain) and Leigh London Redman (Gotham Knights, Dead Boy Detectives) of Berlanti Productions also executive produce. Also joining them as executive producers are Midnight Radio’s André Nemec (Heads of State, Life on Mars), Jeff Pinkner (Cowboy Bebop, Jumanji: The Next Level), and Adrienne Erickson (From, Citadel), and pilot director Toby Haynes (Black Mirror, Doctor Who).

Netflix has yet to announce production time for the series.
