According to an exclusive article Deadline did with Netflix has officially renewed The Lincoln Lawyer for a fourth season, three months after the release of its third season. The 10-episode new season, based on Michael Connelly’s (Bosch, The Wonderland Massacre & The Secret History of Hollywood) sixth book The Law of Innocence, is set to begin filming next month in Los Angeles. “We are so excited to tell more stories with Mickey Haller,” co-showrunners Ted Humphrey (Shark, The Unit) and Dailyn Rodriguez (Queen of the South, The Night Shift).
Manuel Garcia-Rulfo (6 Underground, The Magnificent Seven) will return as Mickey Haller, along with Becki Newton (Ugly Betty, How I Met Your Mother), Jazz Raycole (The Quad, The Mick), Angus Sampson (Fargo, The Dogfather), and Neve Campbell (Scream, Party of Five). Campbell, who appeared in two episodes of Season three, will have a much larger role in Season four. “Maggie has a significant presence in The Law of Innocence,” noted Deadline, referencing the character’s larger involvement in the new season compared to the previous one.
Filming will take place in Los Angeles, a city still recovering from the devastation caused by recent wildfires in the Palisades and Eaton areas. “The show is in many ways a love letter to our city and an homage to the great tradition of LA noir,” said Humphrey and Rodriguez. “After the tragedy of the fires, we are so grateful and honored to be able to provide some stability and hope to the community.”
Since its debut in May 2022, The Lincoln Lawyer has become a breakout hit, with its first season spending 12 weeks in the Netflix Global Top 10. The third season continued its success, ranking in the Top 10 for six weeks while maintaining a perfect 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Produced by A+E Studios, the show has garnered praise for its gender-balanced hiring, earning a ReFrame Stamp for Season two.
