Breakout teen drama series Outer Banks is returning to Netflix with a second season, according to Deadline. A premiere date for the ensuing season is not yet known.
Show creators and executive producers Jonas Pate (The Grave), Josh Pate (Surface), and Shannon Burke (Syriana) return as showrunners for the second season. Outer Banks‘ stars Chase Stokes (Stranger Things), Madelyn Cline (Boy Erased), Madison Bailey (Black Lightening), Jonathon Daviss (Age of Summer), Rudy Pankow (Deviant), Austin North (I Didn’t Do It), Drew Starkey (Love, Simon), Deion Smith (Homicide Hunter: Lt. Joe Kenda) and Charles Esten (Nashville) also will all will return to reprise their roles.
Outer Banks follows a group of young teenagers — called the “Pogues” — who make up the working class locals in the beach town of the Outer Banks in North Carolina. They live alongside their rivals — called the “Kooks” — who are known for their wealth and often get into socioeconomic issues with the Pogues. The young Pogues make life-changing decisions in their exploration for family, romance and treasure, all while conflict between the two groups of Outer Banks residents surges. It is a summer season of mystery, adventure and drama that is remarkably unforgettable for both parties.
As reported by People, Pates said, “There will definitely be some new mysteries and some new ideas. It all comes off the same spine of the same story, but it branches out in ways that hopefully the audience won’t see coming.”
The first season of Outer Banks premiered this past year on April 15 and is available to stream globally on Netflix. View the cast videos compiled to celebrate the show’s renewal below:
