According to Deadline, Netflix’s live-action adaptation of One Piece for a second season. The series is based on the best-selling manga of the same name by Eiichiro Oda (One Piece, Wanted!).
One Piece premiered on Netflix on August 31 and recently spent its second week in the first spot of Netflix’s Top 10. The series debuted to critical success, with a current 85% critic score and a 95% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes.
The series follows Monkey D. Luffy’s otherworldly adventures as he explores exotic islands and oceans with his pirate crew in search of “One Piece”, the ultimate treasure to become the next Pirate King.
One Piece stars Iñaki Godoy (The Imperfects, Go Youth!) as Luffy, Taz Skylar (Boiling Point, Agatha Raisin) as Sanji, Emily Rudd (Fear Street Part One: 1994, Hunters) as Nami, Mackenyu (Over Drive, Knights of the Zodiac), and Jacob Romero Gibson (The Resident, Greenleaf) as Usopp.
The series also features Langley Kirkwood (Tiger House, Mia and the White Lion), Alexander Maniatis (Warrior, The Power), Aidan Scott (The Kissing Booth 2, Action Point), Steven Ward (Inconceivable, Vagrant Queen), Morgan Davies (Julian, The Girlfriend Experience), Ilia Isorelýs Paulino (Me Time, The Sex Lives of College Girls), Celeste Loots (Projek Dina, FDR), Chioma Umeala (The Woman King, Isono), Craig Fairbrass (Rise of the Footsoldier, Avengement), Jeff Ward (Brand New Cherry Flavor, Hacks), McKinley Belcher III (Mercy Street, Ozark), and Vincent Regan (Vendetta, Black Knight).
Steven Maeda (Lost, Day Break) and Matt Owens (Luke Cage, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.) serve as showrunners and writers. One Piece is executive produced by Oda, Maeda, Owens, Becky Clements (Physical, Snowpiercer), and Marty Adelstein (Made of Honor, The Experiment).
The series is produced by Tomorrow Studios and Netflix in partnership with Shueisha.
The One Piece anime series based on Oda’s manga debuted on October 20, 1999 and is currently over 1,000 episodes long.
