Netflix is bringing the YA dramedy Ginny & Georgia back for a second season, according to Deadline. The announcement follows reports from Netflix that the first season received particularly strong viewership, with 52M subscribers streaming the series in its first 28 days.
The show, which stars Brianne Howey (Dollface) and Antonia Gentry (Raising Dion) as mother and daughter, opened at the top of the Nielson streaming charts last month, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Deadline reports that Netflix has ordered ten episodes for the second season, which will be produced in Toronto, Canada. No plot details have been revealed.
The first season of Ginny & Georgia follows teenager Ginny Miller (Gentry) and her mother Georgia as they settle into a picturesque New England town, hoping to make a fresh start. The cast included Diesel La Torraca (The Secrets She Keeps), Jennifer Robertson (Schitt’s Creek), Felix Mallard (Zoey’s Extraordinary Playlist), Sara Waisglass (October Faction), Scott Porter (Lucifer) and Raymond Ablack (Narcos).
The series is executive produced by showrunner Debra J. Fisher (Being Mary Jane), first-time creator Sarah Lampert and director Anya Adams (Black-ish), according to Deadline. Additional producers include Jeff Tahler (Paper Clips), Jenny Daly (The Blended Bunch), Holly Hines (Fortitude), Daniel March (Van Helsing) and Elena Blekhter (Stalked: Someone’s Watching).
“We are so appreciative of the incredible response and love you all have shown Ginny & Georgia. We’re especially grateful to Brianne and Toni, who set the highest bar every step of the way. We can’t wait to return to Wellsbury for season two,” said Debra J. Fisher and Sarah Lampert via Deadline.
