The Netflix Spanish drama series Money Heist, or La Casa De Papel, has been renewed for fifth season which will also double as its final season as well, according to Deadline. The crime drama was created by Alex Pina (The Crown, White Lines) and premiered its fifteen-episode first season in 2017. In total, the series has released a total of 31 episodes over its four-season run with the latest installment debuting on the streaming platform in April 2020. In addition to being the creator and showrunner, Pina also acts as an executive producer on the series along with the likes of Cristina López (The Boat, Paco’s Man) and Jesús Colmenar (The Pier).
Money Heist centers on “The Professor” and his efforts to procure eight individuals to follow through on an elaborate plan to rob the Royal Mint of Spain in Madrid. The series cast includes the likes of Álvaro Morte (El embarcadero) as “The Professor,” Úrsula Corberó (Isabel) as Tokyo, Paco Tous (Los hombres de Paco) as Agustín, Miguel Herrán (Nothing in Return) as Rio, Pedro Alonso (Gran Hotel) as Berlin, Itziar Ituño (Loreak) as Lisbon, Jime Lorente (Élite) as Denver, Alba Flores (Vis a Vis) as Nairobi, Esther Acebo (Los Encantados) as Stockholm, and many more. Pina commented on the process of how to close out this crew by stating to Deadline that “We’ve spent almost a year thinking about how to break up the band. How to put the Professor on the ropes, How to get into situations that are irreversible for many characters. The result is the fifth part of La Casa de Papel. The war reaches its most extreme and savage levels, it is also the most epic and exciting season.”
