Good news Daredevil fans. Today at the San Diego Comic-Con, Netflix announced that Marvel’s Daredevil will be returning for a third season.
Every year fans flock to San Diego for the annual Comic-Con. There are more Comic-Cons than just the one in San Diego, but the SDCC is special because it is during these few days that major networks make important announcements about some of the most popular TV shows currently on the air.
During the joint Marvel and Netflix panel today an San Diego Comic-con, Marvel’s Chief Creative Officer Joe Quesada Tweeted out that he had something really important to tell Head of Marvel TV Jeph Loeb.
“Holy $&@%! Has anyone seen Jeph Loeb? I have to tell hom something incredibly important before the Netflix panel today @ 5:45 in Ballroom 20”
This already gave die-hard fans a heads up that something really big would probably be announced at the joint Netflix and Marvel panel. And the significance of Quesada looking for Loeb is that Loeb has a track-record of making huge announcements at Comic-Con such as the revelation that Agent Coulson did not actually die in the first Avengers film and also the introduction of Agent Carter.
This year, at the Luke Cage panel, TV Guide reports that Quesada took the stage while the cast and crew assembled and then left only to return at the very end to make a very big announcement.
Daredevil has been picked up for a third season on Netflix.
The news isn’t that surprising considering the success of the first two seasons. The most recent season of Daredevil opened strong and ended even stronger, maintaining the high level of aesthetics, acting, and story-telling fans have come to love about the series. Furthermore, the fact that Netflix decided to give Daredevil a third season isn’t a huge shock considering the season two finale ended with a cliff-hanger. We still need to see what happens with The Hand and of course there’s the whole deal with Electra’s resurrection.
Are you surprised Daredevil earned a third season?
