Netflix has decided to renew its popular anthology series Black Mirror for yet another season, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Black Mirror is a show that grows increasingly popular with each new installment of episodes, so Netflix’s decision for a renewal is not so surprising.
Black Mirror is an anthology series set in the near future and provides an unnerving yet accurate commentary on the role that technology plays in our lives. But the show didn’t always enjoy its comfortable home at Netflix. The series first aired on the UK network Channel 4 before moving to Netflix in 2016.
With the luxury of a large Netflix budget, the production values have continued to rise with each new season. Season 4 was particularly impressive with its scope and special effects, winning over viewers at home and professional critics alike.
Netflix announced its plans to renew the popular sci-fi series on its official Black Mirror Twitter account.

No premiere date or possible storylines for season 5 have been released. It’s possible that there will be a sequel episode for the most popular piece from season 4, “USS Callister”. Todd Haynes, the director of season 4’s wild outer space episode, said back in January that he would love to return to the world of “USS Callister”.
Haynes even mentioned that Black Mirror’s creator and showrunner Charlie Brooker himself is considering doing more with the storyline. No plans have been set in stone, however.
