Netflix Releases Trailer For Upcoming Western Limited Series ‘American Primeval’

Per Deadline, Netflix has dropped new trailer for American Primeval, their upcoming limited series about life in the American West in 1857. The Western will premiere on the streamer on January 9, 2025.

Written by Mark L. Smith (Untamed, The Dog Stars) and directed by Pete Berg (God Save Texas, Boys in Blue), the six-episode series will be, according to Deadline, a “fictionalized dramatization and examination of the violent collision of culture, religion and community in the old west.”

American Primeval stars Taylor Kitsch (Painkiller, Waco: The Aftermath), Betty Gilpin (Three Women, Skull Island), Dane DeHaan (The Staircase, Lisey’s Story), Saura Lightfoot-Leon (The Agency, Masters of the Air), Derek Hinkey (Django, Walker: Independence), Joe Tippett (Monarch: Legacy of Monsters, The Morning Show), Jai Courtney (For the Love of Pets, Kaleidoscope), Preston Mota (Asteroid City), Shawnee Pourier (Dark Winds, Stranger Things) and Shea Whigham (Lawmen: Bass Reeves, The Righteous Gemstones).

Guest stars will include Kim Coates (White House Plumbers, Children Ruin Everything), Lucas Neff (Monsters at Work, Trash Truck), Kyle Davis (The Rookie, Dexter), Tokala Black Elk (Happy’s Place, Outer Range), Nick Hargrove (NCIS: Los Angeles, Charmed), Irene Bedard (The Green Veil, Avatar: The Last Airbender), Nanabah Grace (Jacquemus: Spring/Summer 2022), Alex Breaux (Joe Pickett, Waco: The Aftermath), Dominic Bogart (FBI, Baselines), Alex Fine (1883, The Donovans), Kip Weeks (Ragged Isle, Seeds), and Jeremiah Bitsui (Chicago P.D., Better Call Saul).

Indigenous artists who lent their talents to the production include Molly Murphy Adams (Oglala Lakota) and Pete Yellowjohn (Shoshone Bannock). Julie O’Keefe (Killers of the Flower Moon) is the Indigenous Cultural Consultant and Project Advisor on the project.

American Primeval will be executive produced by Berg and Smith alongside Eric Newman (Cowboy Cartel, Griselda) and Alex Gayner (A Murder at the End of the World, Too Old to Die Young).
