Netflix just released the trailer for its upcoming sci-fi series Another Life, and Battlestar Galactica star Katee Sackhoff is back in space. In the Netflix original series, Katee Sackhoff will embark on a high-risk journey into uncharted and unknown interstellar territory in search of the origin of an alien artifact.
The official synopsis from Netflix for Another Life is below:
When a mysterious alien Artifact lands on Earth, Commander Niko Breckinridge (Katee Sackhoff) has to lead humanity’s first interstellar mission to its planet of origin, while her husband (Justin Chatwin) tries to make first contact with the artifact back on earth. Another Life explores the miracle of life, how precious life is in a universe mostly empty of it, and the lengths we will go to protect the ones we love.
Ten years after portraying Lieutenant Kara “Starbuck” Thrace on Battlestar Galactica, Katee Sackhoff is joining Netflix for a new adventure into space. This time, Sackhoff will be the commander for a crew of astronauts who are searching for alien life. The trailer was just released on Netflix’s YouTube channel and can be watched below:
This year will mark the 40th anniversary of the 1979 film Alien, which is considered to be one of the most influential sci-fi films of all time. Since its release, audiences have continued to be fascinated with the possibility of extraterrestrial life, and Another Life is another sci-fi addition that banks on this fascination. Netflix has gotten a number of original sci-fi series off the ground within the past few years. Stranger Things is a sci-fi story that takes place on Earth, but Netflix has set its new series in the terrifying and unknowable limits of outer space.
Although the trailer does not give much away, it does make it clear than Earth is being faced by an alien threat and that Sackhoff’s crew is tasked with containing it. The film will follow the crew as they depart into space, searching for the genesis of the alien artifact that was found on Earth. As their journey continues, the crew begins to find what they were searching for. It seems unlikely that the alien species is friendly.
The series also stars Selma Blair, Jessica Camacho, and Justin Chatwin. It will arrive on Netflix on July 28.
