According to Deadline, Netflix has released a trailer for the upcoming animated comedy series Captain Fall, as well as announced that it will premiere on the streaming service on July 28. The animated series comes from Jonas Torgersen (Vikingane, Norsemen) and Jon Iver Helgaker (Vikingane, Norsemen). It is the first animated comedy series the pair has created.
Captain Fall follows a good-hearted, yet wet-behind-the-ears sea captain who unwittingly finds himself used as a fall guy for a terrible international cartel that has him at the helm of their smuggling ship in case authorities catch up to them. Season one will consist of ten episodes.
The voice cast consists of Jason Ritter (Gravity Falls, Raising Dion) starring as Captain Jonathon Fall, Vivian Lamolli (Bodied, Kept Boy) as Dr. Russel, Walles Hamonde (Transformers: The Last Knight, Fantastic Beasts and Where to find Them) as Sheik Al Jamain, and Paris Benjamin (Stranger Things, Succession) as Michelle.
The cast also includes Anthony Carrigan (Barry, The Forgotten), Christopher Meloni (The Handmaid’s Tale, Law & Order: SVU), Lesley-Ann Brand (Single Ladies, The Librarians), Alejandro Edda (Narcos: Mexico, Snowfall), Trond Fausa (Stardust, Norsemen), Adam Devine (Pitch Perfect: Bumper in Berlin, The Righteous Gemstones), Rose Abdoo (My Best Friend’s Wedding, Gilmore Girls), Abigail Marlowe (Arcane, Brooklyn Nine-Nine), and Momo Dione (Lucifer, Law & Order: Criminal Intent).
Fausa has previously collaborated with Helgaker and Torgersen on their series The Norsemen.
Netflix ordered the series back in 2020. It is executive produced by Helgaker, Torgersen, and Joel Trussell (Pickle and Peanut, Yo Gabba Gabba!).
Helgaker and Torgersen are best known for the Norwegian live-action comedy series Norsemen on Netflix, which premiered on August 18, 2017 and completed its third and final season on March 13, 2020. It follows Viking warriors from the town of Norheim in the eighth century.
