Who knew Loras Tyrell could hit so hard? Netflix has just released a teaser trailer for the new Marvel series Iron Fist, and although it may be short, it definitely packs a punch.
The new Netflix and Marvel collaboration, following in the wake of prior successes such as Daredevil and Jessica Jones, looks ready to rock comic hero fans with another huge hit of super powered action, and has also given fans a good look at how devastating Finn Jones (formerly known as the Knight of the Flowers on Game of Thrones) can be as Iron Fist.
The original Iron Fist had its debuted in 1974 in Marvel Comics as a martial artist who wielded a mystical and incredible force known as the Iron Fist that enabled him to focus his chi (energy) in ways that would produce massive blows. Iron fist would later go on to team up with Luke Cage, who has also recently had some news on his own Netflix Original series, in a comic series known as Power man and Iron Fist. With the recent surge in Marvel Properties on Netflix, we may very well see a modern day take on that very same comic.
The trailer is very brief, but gives a good bit of insight into the origin of Daniel Rand A.K.A. the Iron Fist. Based off the preview, we know he had a loving mother, we know they were aboard a plane and that the plane crashed, based on the fact that a young Daniel is seen lying in the snow still strapped to his plane seat. There is a quick flash of what appear to monks, which implies the origin of his mystical martial arts strength, and then there is Daniel just straight punching through a brick wall, which confirms his mystical strength.
Given that the series appears based in New York City, and considering that Daredevil, Jessica Jones, and the upcoming Luke Cage all take place in New York City (and have seen crossovers between the series) there can be no doubt that Iron Fist will be involved with these heroes. Also, considering that Daredevil has been confirmed for third season, fans can definitely be hyped for a potential Iron Fist cameo, though it has not been confirmed (but hype knows no bounds).
With Luke Cage set to premiere November 30 of this year, Daredevil to come back for a third season, The Punisher confirmed for its own original series, and Jessica Jones coming off an excellent first season with a second one on the horizon, there is no doubt that Marvel has not only become a powerhouse on Netflix, but has also become a powerhouse in quality entertainment. I know I speak for many when I say I cannot contain my excitement for what is to come in this ridiculously stacked library of comic book TV.
