So much is going to happen in season 2 of Marvel’s Daredevil on Netflix that they had to split the trailer into 2 parts. The first part was released on Feb. 15, but today, Netflix released the second part of the season 2 trailer on the official Daredevil series Twitter page.
In part 1, we got a good sense of what’s to come in season 2, or so we thought. The first trailer featured The Punisher (Jon Bernthal), who is going to replace Wilson Fisk (Vincent D’Onofrio) as this season’s big baddie. But the second trailer focuses on Elektra Natchios (Elodie Yung). For more on the Daredevil season 2 trailer part 1, mxdwn has the story here.
Before this trailer, we’ve barely had more than a glimpse of Elektra. Previous teasers and trailers have only shown brief flashes of Daredevil’s old flame, enough for us to know she will be in the second season, but not enough for us to really learn anything about the character. Until now.
In the beginning of the trailer, we hear her say, “I need your help, Matthew. You’re the only person I can trust.” And based on his reaction, it doesn’t look like Matthew is very inclined to help her out. These two clearly have history, but whatever ill feelings may be between them at first, they seem to get over it enough to fight side-by-side.
But their relationship aside, the trailer offers way more insight into what to expect this season. The last trailer focused on The Punisher, and while he will be a very significant part of the upcoming season, he’s not the only new threat in Hell’s Kitchen. Along with The Punisher, the second season will introduce another adversary for Matthew, a group called The Hand. It looks like Daredevil is going to have more than enough on his plate, which really has me wondering how they are going to fit it all in one season.
As if a new villain, ex-romantic interest, and mystical group of ninjas weren’t enough for Matt, it looks like his friendship with his best friend and business partner may be on the line. In the trailer, it looks like The Man without Fear is also going to have to deal with the repercussions of Foggy Nelson (Elden Henson) knowing of his affinity for red leather. What will this mean for Nelson and Murdock, Avocados at Law?
Season 1 of Daredevil is currently available to stream on Netflix, and season 2 will be available beginning March 18.
