According to Comicbook.com, Scavengers Reign will be available on Netflix because of a non-exclusive release deal that the streamer has reached with Max. Variety has previously reported that there is a possibility for a second season, but it will depend on how well the animated series will be on Netflix. One of the show’s creators, Charles Huettner (Scavengers, Swap Meet), has released the poster for fans in the social media post available below:

The animated fantasy is a Max original, created by Huettner and Joseph Bennett (Common Side Effects, Scavengers). The series was originally an original short film released in 2016 by the pair and is now further expanding the universe with this animated series. This series was created for Green Street Pictures and Titmouse, Inc. It will be released with Netflix in the United States, Ireland and the United Kingdom. This animated series has 12 episodes currently, according to Comicbook.com. The official synopsis for Scavenger Reign can be read below:
“Scavengers Reign is about the surviving crew of a damaged deep space freighter who are stranded on a beautiful yet unforgiving planet. They begin to learn the true nature of this planet as they try to survive long enough to escape or be rescued.”
The co-executive producer for the series, James Merrill (Saturday Morning All Star Hits!, JJ Villard’s Fairy Tales), said in an interview with ComicBook.com last year that there will be more to see if a second season is greenlit. Merrill explained, “I do feel like we tried to tell a complete story, not a puzzle box that tries to lure people back. That being said, we do have some big ideas as to what could come next. I hope that we get to do it because we want to explore what comes next. We only saw a little bit of the planet.
Scavengers Reign will be released on Netflix on May 31.
