After the second season was released last Thursday morning, Netflix already posted the first teaser for season three on New Year’s Day, introducing a new unsettling character, Deadline exclusively reports.
According to Deadline, the 15-second clip of the teaser teases viewers by showing three new players of the game in their numbered tracksuits, who are entering the famous ‘Red Light, Green Light’ arena. Viewers can see the back of the unsettling doll Young-hee being turned. After the face of the doll is seen at a railroad crossing, a boy doll is introduced on the other side of the tracks, looking straight at the girl doll.

Squid Game‘s second season totalized 68 million views in its first three days on the streamer. Furthermore, it became No. 1 on the weekly non-English TV list in 92 countries right away, Netflix said via Deadline. This made the highly-anticipated K-drama become not only the most-watched Netflix series of the week but even the best-performing title on the streamer overall. Hollywood Reporter pointed out that the K-drama was also able to beat the record held by another famous series on the streaming platform, Wednesday, which had 50.1 million views when it first debuted in November 2022.
If anyone is interested in reading the season two synopsis, Netflix’s website has it available to read: “Three years after winning Squid Game, Player 456 gave up going to the States and comes back with a new resolution in his mind. Gi-hun once again dives into the mysterious survival game, starting another life-or-death game with new participants gathered to win the prize of 45.6 billion won.”
According to Deadline, the streamer announced that the third and final season was in the works way before the second season premiered. This upcoming season will be released in 2025.
