Netflix Releases First Full Trailer for New Series ‘Narcos’

Netflix has just released the first full trailer for their upcoming original series, Narcos (via Deadline).

In early April we reported that Netflix had ordered the series and that director Jose Padilha (Robocop) and Brazilian actor Wagner Moura (Elysium) will work along side each other again. The two previously worked on Elite Squad and Elite Squad: The Enemy Within together.

Narcos is set to premiere a ten episode first season August 28. The series follows true events in the 1980’s centered around drug kingpin, Pablo Escobar, and the Medellin Cartel. Narcos will encompass the growth of cocaine across the world and the clash between law enforcement.

The Netflix original was created by Jose Padilha and will be joined by Eric Newman (Children of Men), Carlos Bernard (Sorcerer’s Apprentice), Chris Brancato (Hannibal), and Doug Miro (The Great Raid) as executive producers. Not only does the series star Wagner Moura, but it stars Pedro Pascal (Game of Thrones) and Boyd Holbrook (Gone Girl). Moura plays Pablo Escobar, Pascal plays Javier Pena, while Holbrook is Steve Murphy. Pascal will play a Mexican DEA agent on the hunt for Pablo Escobar.

Ted Sarandos, Netflix’s chief, made a statement about Narcos, “Their version of the Escobar saga will be like nothing ever seen before” (via Huffington Post).

The whole first season of Narcos can be watched in full on August 28 on Netflix. But for now, catch the newly released trailer here:
