Netflix released the trailer for its upcoming drama limited series, Clickbait, which is set to premiere on August 25, according to Variety. The series stars Betty Gabriel (The Purge), Adrian Grenier (Entourage), and Zoe Kazan (Ruby Sparks).
Clickbait centers around loving father and husband Nick Brewer, played by Grenier, who faces the threat of death after a video is posted online of him kidnapped, holding a sign that states, “I abuse women. At 5 million views, I die.” While it’s still unclear whether this is a truthful confession or a threat by Nick’s tormentors, his sister, Pia, played by Kazan, and his wife, Sophie, played by Gabriel, try to save him.
In the eight-episode series, each episode of Clickbait is told from another character’s perspective. The aim of the storyline is to exemplify how each characters’ detrimental and uncontrolled impulses tend to be fueled by social media, clicks, and views.
Clickbait also stars Jessica Collins (The Ranch), Camaron Engels (Malibu Rescue), Jaylin Fletcher (Snowpiercer), Motell Gyn Foster (Anya), Daniel Henshall (Snowtown), Abraham Lim (The Boys), Ian Meadows (Killing Ground), and Phoenix Raei (Below). The show was created by Tony Ayres (Cut Snake) and Christian White (The Nowhere Child). The trailer for the series, set to premiere later this month, can be watched below.
